TEACHING PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES TO SWIM

Do you like, or are interested in swimming?

Would you like to help others in learning to swim?

Do you, or someone you know, have a disability?

SWIMMING IS VERY GOOD FOR YOU!

It is generally recognised that swimming is good for your health and well being. But what if you have problems.

Your problem may be physical, sensory, communication, or learning.

We have an enjoyable and proven way of enjoying the water.

We look at what you can do, and build on it in easy steps.

ABILITY NOT DISABILITY

is our goal

To start with, you will have someone to help you in the water. This may be individual or part of a group. The methods are structured, but are infinitely flexible to suit your needs.

There are galas throughout the year where we compete with other disabled clubs from Newport to as far as Swansea, when successful the club even competes to a national level. The club boasts not only Welsh champions, but British champions as well. A handicapping system is used which means that all swimmers compete on a fair basis. The atmosphere at these events is very friendly and relaxed.

Training is offered to helpers wishing to become instructors, via a recognised course.

Rhondda Polar Bears

are a registered charity and everyone helps on a voluntary basis.
